This collection contains photographs that document the personal and professional life of Oregon author Eva Emery Dye and her family. There are portraits of Dye, her husband, Charles Henry Dye, and their children and grandchildren, as well as photographs of the Dye family home in Oregon City, Or. Other photographs depict Dye's professional life as a writer, including photographs of her public appearances and talks and images relating to her book, "The Conquest: The True Story of Lewis and Clark" of the Clark family and of Se-Cho-Wa, a member of the Walla Walla tribe who remembered the explorers. There are also photographs of the Sacajawea Statue at the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition and in Washington Park in Portland, Or. Includes photographic prints, photomechanical prints, engravings, a calendar, and an ambrotype. Photographers include Eva Emery Dye's son, Trafton Mickelwaite Dye, as well as Lee Moorhouse of Pendleton, Or. and Edith C. Cheney, Preston M. Hart, and Anna Wisner, all of Oregon City, Or., among others.

Eva Emery Dye (1855-1947), Oregon author and historian, was born in Prophetstown, illinois. She was educated at Oberlin College (B.A. 1882, M.A. 1887) and married a classmate Charles Henry Dye in 1882. They moved to Oregon City, Oregon, in 1890, where Charles Dye practiced law and the couple raised four children.
